A Slice of the Country
This is one of my favorite paintings that I have completed this year. As with most of my original paintings, this scene came from my imagination. I especially love old brick and stone farmhouses and decided on a red brick one for this piece. I used a long narrow canvas and added tiny trees and a distant farm, to give that feel of those wonderful broad vistas found here in the great American heartland. I hope that you will enjoy viewing this painting and my other art work.

This original red barn painting is done in acrylic paint on a 16 x 20″ stretched canvas.
Old Country Farmhouse Painting
Right now I am working on a new series of very small 7 x 5″ sized paintings. For these pieces I am working on gesso over hardboard. This surface has a much different texture than canvas and I enjoy the different effects that I can get on it. An old abandoned farmhouse is what I decided on as the subject for this piece. I always find a sense of mystery about an abandoned farmhouse. Wondering why it was left to decay and what families might have once lived happy lives there.
